2020-2021 New Member Welcome Letter

Updated: Aug 13, 2020

Hello, and welcome to F.A.C.E.S. in Health at the University of Kansas!

I am delighted that you chose to become a member of this brand-new student organization. As you know, our membership includes students, faculty, and staff who aim to provide high-quality training in cultural equity and sensitivity to undergraduate students in pre-health tracks. While we are experiencing an unprecedented amount of uncertainty, we hope that this organization can provide hope for the future and add some semblance of stability to your upcoming year.

We have a number of ways for you to get involved! In addition to holding elections this semester for all eight of our officer positions, we have a number of exciting volunteer opportunities available on a variety of committees, including: Fundraising, Engagement, Research, Mentorship, and Forum Moderation. We would love to help you find something that meets your interests and serves your personal growth needs. Additionally, we would love to see you at our regularly scheduled general assembly meetings! Each meeting addresses our objectives of Scholarship, Mentorship, and Engagement, so be prepared for jam-packed sessions with incredibly valuable information for you as you navigate toward your chosen career path. I have found that the more energy I put into campus organizations, the more I get back. I am sure you will also find this to be true as you get more involved with our growing community.

Our organization sends out most communications via email, so please make sure to keep your contact information updated on the F.A.C.E.S. website (https://kufacesinhealth.wixsite.com/home). Within the coming weeks, you will begin receiving our newsletter. I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting so that we can become acquainted and I can introduce you to some of our other members. Please contact me if you have any questions, and again, welcome!
